HotDog Pro has a useful 3-view editing feature. This means whilst editing you can:
view the HTML code of the document you are editing in the editing window;
preview your webpage using live document rendering in the ROVER view (Real-time Output ViewER);
view the HTML code of another open document (or the same document!)
in an additional editing window simply by clicking

The additional editing window makes comparing the code in different documents or within the same document a simple matter. Copying and pasting between different documents or within the same document is also easy.
The ROVER view is HotDog Pro's own internal browser, which means that as you edit you can preview the way your webpage would actually look on the internet. The more common WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) approach in many webpage programs tend to hide the HTML code from authors, leading them to believe that what they see is what their audience will see, which is often not the case. Professional webmasters know that live document rendering gives them full control over their source code while still providing them with an authentic visual representation of their web page in real-time.
You even have the option of turning ROVER off, and previewing your
webpages externally - simply click on 
in the File toolbar and select the browser of your choice. This is
especially useful for ensuring compatibility between different
browsers. (HotDog Pro searches for and automatically installs any
external browsers it finds on your system when you start HotDog Pro
for the first time.)

Code completion is a useful tool that gives you a quick way of inserting tags and attributes. Because HotDog knows the entire HTML, CSS, ASP, JavaScript and VBScript specifications, it can present you with all the possible attributes for each tag while you edit and, where possible, the values that are associated with each tag.
By placing your cursor over different parts of your code, popup information (tooltips) appears about that part of the code and will even let you know if there is any unrecognized/incorrect code. By moving your cursor over color codes, an image of the color appears so that you know exactly what color you have specified in your document. This is also the case with images - by placing your cursor over your image code a small version of the image appears so that you know exactly which image has been inserted into your code.
So that you can optimize your webpages for the Internet, the HotDog editor allows you to specify the properties and information of each individual document from the Format toolbar. The Document Properties dialog allows you to select a style sheet, change the colors of the text and links, add a background color or background image. You can also see how large your document is (including images) and how long it would take to download under different modem speeds.
The Document Information dialog provides enhanced support for meta tags, automatic repetition of keywords in upper and lower case, keyword file saving for later use, making it easy to optimize your webpages for inclusion in search engines.
In addition to cascading style sheet integration, HotDog Pro now gives you the power of using style tags or inline styles to format your characters and paragraphs. The new Font and Paragraph dialogs allow you to specify all the style properties of your fonts, paragraphs, lists, borders and backgrounds in such a manner that controlling the appearance of your webpages easier than ever before. For greater flexibility, HotDog Pro also supports multi-lingual characters and all proportional fonts.
Webmasters rapidly collect large amounts of media files that they use throughout their sites. The Multimedia Manager is a particularly useful tool that brings HotDog-based control to large groups of multimedia. Using the Multimedia Manager you can quickly preview a directory of images, animations or sounds and insert them into your webpage. This is useful when you have to find a single image or sound among an entire directory of them. An additional thumbnail component guides you through the involved process of creating and inserting an image thumbnail table
Because a visitor has to download every one of your images to correctly view your webpage, image optimization and processing is of paramount importance. HotDog Pro allows you to edit and optimize all your images for the web, including :
